Interesting video, though I find myself neutral on a lot of his comments, with an exception to making a headshot at optimum distance OHK and 2 shots at a distance.

Saw the video just now, too.

I have personally put in enough time into DMR, and I agree with him mostly.

Its not competitive compared to other weapon classes.

You are actually better off using SCAR-H or ACE 52 CQB instead in most situations.

Though, it is still a fun weapon to use, and I will continue to use it.

hmm, you're better versed with competative gaming than I am storm. How do you think changing the damage models back to the way they were in BF3 would effect the overall meta gameplay of BF4? Honestly, I think the rate of fire, and limitations there would balance everything out especially since their hip fire accuracy is pretty atrocious.

Ehh. I agree and disagree. If DICE did raise the damage model, which is the only thing I see that could be needed a change. But not make it as drastic as 50. It would in fact make them (DMRs) slightly overpowered and overused since they are an all kit weapon and can be used with any class.

For the sake of argument, I'm using the Mk 11. I would say instead of 43, make it 48 for the high and 35 for the low. And include the 2.35 times head shot multiplier. Now in the end. The Mk 11 will still take 3 body shots to kill at close to medium range, but a OHK for head shots. But it will be a 3 shot kill at the body at range, and a 2 shot head shot. But the biggest thing is that you will be damaging enemies more. Making them easier to finish off.

Fair enough, all I really want is for the DMR's to have the OHK to the head within max damage range back and perhaps the 2 shots to the head at range.

I agree they really feel gimped, out of the ones I tried so far I kinda liked the mk11 the best with angled grip and red dot, really don't like acog in this game since it seems to have sway

wonder if they will really change it based on user feedback, we saw how long it took them to change m16/famas/frag rounds in bf3

I dunno what the new tryhard weapon is in bf4, possibly m416 or aek, idk. Haven't played much lately due to horrible teams.

they should fix the crashes before they take manpower to change weapon balance I think. still getting direct x crashes

Hip fire is fine as is, as its not meant to be easy to kill weapon for cqc.

Basically my version of balancing for DMR would be
1. OHK headshot within 15m. Doesn't matter whether its going to be increase in max damage, or increase in headshot multiplier. Though, leaning towards more headshot multiplier.
2. Maximum three shot kill at any range (except SKS or the sort). I think this one is the most important change that needs to be made, as its easy to ignore DMR and just run away as of now.
3. Increase RPM slightly, or decrease recoil slightly.

If DICE decides to fix DMR characteristics, its not going to be massive code overhaul or anything, but mere few data point correction (just like changing cells in excel spreadsheet). Its not really going to take much man power, unless they are going to extensively test it on their own (which I highly doubt).

PC must be drastically different than console because 1/2 people use DRMs in conquest. they are absolutely everywhere and I would HATE for them to be buffed.

View user profile
Yeah, you see them just as often as any other weapon. I especially see a lot of engineers and assaults with them.

I think it has something to do with the fact that you can actually control automatic weapon's recoil with mouse control, which makes them accurate enough to operate in DMR zone, which for console players will have to use DMR to achieve same result. Its just a speculations, though.

On PC, its quite rare to see someone using DMR exclusively, and its even rarer to see someone dominating with it.

I have had quite a few successful rounds with it, but I have a feeling that I would had better results with other weapon classes.
